We really underestimate him. Let's look at his feats. 1) He held off Semi-Perfect Cell with his Shin Kikoho. Since that doesn't have a high multiplier, it means he's somewhere around the Android Saga Super Saiyans, maybe even a bit higher. It was just AT not thinking about it at the time that makes it seem like he was weaker beforehand. 2) He survived against the Cell Juniors even after they were told they could kill everybody. 3) He showed up ready to fight Gotenks-Boo. He also obliterated Boo's "Dende-killing blast" with his Shin Kikoho, and was called a master as well. It was only after Boo formed his planet buster that he lost hope. By the first feat, he should be on SSjin Vegeta's level, at least, but likely much higher. I'm just trying to keep this minimal, mind you. Yes, Piccolo called him and the other humans (and Gohan) nothing that would worry Gero or the other androids, and Gero called them all small fries, but remember this all came before he unleashed his Shin Kikoho. Later events trump earlier events. Why didn't he use any of this power against the androids? Chalk this one up to AT not having Tien's real power in mind yet when he wrote the earlier stuff. By the second feat, he should be easily be around SSjinG2 Vegeta (the one that fought Semi-Perfect Cell), but again, likely much higher. He might even be approaching Piccolo's power, although I think that'd be extremely pushing it. Would that make the other humans this strong? No, because they aren't Tien. How did he gain all this power in the 10 days between the androids and the Cell Games? Simple: plot required it; it doesn't need a real explanation further than that. Lastly, by the third feat, he would easily be on Super Boo's level, or somewhere around there. Yes, that means he'd be stronger than SSjin 3 Goku! Is that insane? Yes. Is it what is implied? Yes. How did he gain all that power in between Cell and Boo? Again, plot, and remember that it was seven years of harsh training in the mountains. He went out of his way to stay off the other Z Fighters' radars so he could be left alone to train. That's more dedication than Vegeta. Anyway, after he rids the world of Boo's blast meant to kill Dende, Boo calls him a master. We've seen this before at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai where Roshi called Chi-Chi a master, and her feats and confidence would suggest she was at least on his level there, so the same would apply in this situation unless AT deviated from his pattern for some reason unbeknownst to us. The big supporter of this is him actually showing up to fight. He can sense Ki, and he sensed SSjin 3 Goku earlier, so he would know how powerful everybody is at this point in the story, yet he still shows up ready to fight and only completely gives up when Boo forms his planet buster. I hope you've learned something today - that we've been underestimating Tien Shinhan for the longest time. As for Krillin and Yamcha, well, they're another story altogether. Disagreements? Agree? |

That shet Buu had to trick him , he knew he would get stomped badly by Tien. Tien could kick his arse , but Vegito had to shine one way or another IMO. |

The only reason Bootenks tanks Tenshinhan's Tri Beam in the anime is because he put up an invisible kiai off screen and activated it so it made it look like it exploded and he tanked it, but in reality, he did not. |
